My First Ever 8K Road Race

Tuesday, November 29, 2011

If you asked me a year ago if I could run the entire course for an 8K I would have said no way. I don't think I would have said I wouldn't or couldn't do it but I probably would have said I would try but probably would walk most of it. Instead of walking, I ran! I ran the whole course and I did it faster than I thought I could. emoticon

I have surpassed my expectations so far this year and I am looking for more. In 2011 alone, I have ran 2 trail races, 4 5Ks and now 1 8K! My goals are to increase my mileage and my speed. I would love to break 30minutes for a 5K and want to run a 10K, 15K and even a half-marathon!

I'm trying not to be disappointed that there are not many road races in upstate NY from now until Spring. I hope this isn't going to deter me from training. I'm going to try my best to continue running whenever I can and to change my schedule around so that I can accomplish this goal.

I am just proud of myself! Even in November I have run 50+ miles and that alone puts a smile on my face and keeps me motivated that I can do anything!

I look forward to what is in my running future! emoticon

emoticon emoticon I am not sure exactly how far you are from Rochester, but there are some here over the winter, if it is worth the drive. Not many here either but at least a few! I mostly run on my own over the winter, a lot of the winter stuff is at times I am at work. emoticon

Congratulations! Fantastic! You have come a long way...and have some wonderful goals for your running future... Never say never...and as I remind myself regularly 'Imagine, Believe, Achieve!' It's tough finding races in Winter in Maine as well, altho it is beautiful to get out and run outside regardlesss. I'm sure you feel the same about upstate NY. Pick yourself a Spring/early Summer 10K and a Fall Half...that will help you stay focused and motivated to get out there and go.
Smooth running to you~
Tika
