Day After Thanksgiving

Friday, November 25, 2011

Well, I been concentrating on counting "Plus's" - and one plus of ordering our Thanksgiving Dinner To-G0,and not cooking, is that while very good, the stuffing, turkey, gravy, weren't "Mine" . The familiar flavors of my Bell's Seasoning, while wine, etc, just wasn't there. The result was we both ate less. Came in under calorie range. Guess we ate like normal people. A taste of stuffing, small serving of turkey, potatoes, and gravy was just a decorative drizzle across the meat.
So both of us were pleased with our first try of a meal to go...super easy, not having to put a days worth of cooking in, tasty, we have leftovers for sandwiches, and repeat dinners, it came with both turkey and ham, didn't touch the ham last night, so that's another meal, and, the best part, we stayed under our calorie total. All that and very little clean-up!

So might be adding Cracker Barrel to our Holiday Speed Dial ! LOL! emoticon We both agreed, we'd do that again.

Good job! We went to our DD's for dinner and I stayed under calorie count for the day. The nice thing is not dealing with leftovers. I think she was planning on making turkey soup today. It was a 12 pound turkey and there were four of us. Seemed just about right.
Glad you found a solution that worked for you!
Hugs

I think Darlene said they ordered from Cracker Barrel, too. We've done it before and while it may not be exactly the same, it is certainly okay. I noticed that neither of us starved while "having" to eat the pre-made meal...LOL! We drove to my Mom's and had dinner out at a buffet and I have to say it was every bit as good as homemade, so I can't complain about that at all. What I was surprised at were the huge numbers of people there...amazing to see so many eating out that day, all the way from couples only to large families. All for different reasons, I'm sure. Glad you had a nice day and I know you're looking forward to seeing your daughter in a few weeks. Hugs, Jeannie

I'd say it is the way to go as it is less stressful than cooking your own big meal. I've bought the pre-cooked turkey dinner at my market in the past but frankly it wasn't nearly as good as when I cook my own big meal. However, maybe next year I will try them again as it sure beats standing over a hot stove. I wish we had a Cracker Barrel here but we don't. Congratulations on using restraint and not overindulging which I did do, unfortunately. I always justify it by telling myself it only is once a year--LOL!
Enjoy your day and leftovers.

Hugs,

Jill
