been away from here for a couple of months... just wishing one and all a peaceful holiday season-- starting with tomorrow's thanksgiving. i give thanks for sparkworld!
the gathering of friends and family and perhaps the reminisce of childhood past celebrations comes with its own set of memories: some good, some great, some disastrous, if my truth be told.
i would wrap all these gatherings around food, as was the custom of my growing up days. family traditions, flavored with local culture and old world charms and the current times... mix in the music and it was glorious, full of wonder (as seen from the eyes of a child).
now, as a seasoned grownup who has modified all those customs into quieter celebrating and especially more healthful foods, i want to give my thanks for my great family and good health.
this year my sister has lost 50 lbs. my brother ?? 20 lbs. AND my sustained 48 lb weight loss, which began in march and i've maintained since mid-september!!!
so, in true stressful preparation--I CONSUMED 3/4 OF A PUMPKIN PIE STANDING AT THE KITCHEN COUNTER last night AND first thing upon waking up. tasted so good. didn't bat an eyelash. no guilt. hmm-- what can i say??!! i threw the rest away, albeit reluctantly, tonite.
not sure where that came from, but i get that i need support around sugar and portions and emotional eats, holidaze or no... so sparkworld, thanks for listening and thanks for being here-- for me and for each other at this special time of year.
