Losing weight for the wrong reasons

Monday, November 21, 2011

I've read many a blog, article, message board post about all the right reasons to lose weight. Health, being a better parent, emotional health, etc etc. What if my reason is flat out "a boy"? Is that any less valid than all of these other long term reasons? I try to do it for myself and I fail time after time. I have this specific person in mind and I've stayed on track longer than ever before. I know the reason is more likely to fade than the others but it working, damn it. And nothing else has worked yet. I feel confident that I can do it, I AM doing it, I haven't eaten due to stress in a while. That is a HUGE accomplishment for me. A boy isn't such a bad reason, is it? Nah. Let's say no.

(On a girly side now, he's so freaking hot. Yowza.)

I think thats fine! Even if the reason isn't deep who cares? If it works for you thats awesome! In fact I may need to find something like that for motivation because as you say "all the right reasons" aren't really working for me at the moement. Nothing like a hot guy to inspire. emoticon

I agree with everyone else's assessment. If the motivation works, there's nothing wrong with it! Part of my motivation is a boy, too, so I get where you're coming from.

Also, I love your Sparkname. :)

Hey, whatever works right! Just beware putting the weight back on if things go south (as I did when I decided I was fed up with my husband not noticing me and thus lost weight out of anger - when it didn't help, I fell into a horrible depression and gained it all back and then some). Here's hoping success will breed success, and you'll be so proud of yourself NOTHING will stop you! (Of course, if things DON'T go south, all the better!)

If it works for you and is motivating for you, then whatever your reason is fine. You have to use whatever is going to motivate you to reach your goals, and if its a guy, then so be it.

I'd say anything that helps works. My reason started cause my husband was bugging me too.
