This is not weight related......warning
....new hot water tank

Monday, November 21, 2011

As stated above, this has nothing to do with weight, however, it is an important subject, one of which, we almost did NOT address!!

Over a month ago, when I went to our unfinished section of the basement to retrieve my Halloween decorations, I noticed a tiny stream coming from our hot water tank and told my DH, and he came down and looked at it, and said there's nothing I can do about it....let's watch it, and that's what we did!! In conversations with good friends, I brought up the leak from the tank, and they said, you better get that taken care of; you could end up with 3 feet of water in your basement......well that was only a week ago, so now over a month had passed and still the leak, however, it was still only a tiny stream. I decided I had better make a call to our local hot water/furnace man, a guy I have trusted for years, and he told me, "you need a new hot water tank." I then asked him how soon he could be out here, and he told me 45 minutes!! PTL! It had indeed "lived" beyond its years, and the warranty is good for 15 and ours was 18 years old!!! We moved in this house in 1997 and this hot water heater had been installed in 1993! He also told me to never let it go beyond 15 years, because they continue to rust and can explode at the seams and what happens?? Water GUSHES OUT!! I did not know any of that.He also told me a few horror stories of what his team had found in houses that did not take care to get a new hot water tank, horrible flooding, damage to the interior walls even! Many of you may have known about this, and for that I am very glad, But, I just thought I would write about this, cuz to me, it was something I just never thought about and now I have peace of mind and a dry basement!! I am also happy I got a warning.....the leak and decided I had better check it out, and thank God I had good friends that told me NOT to ignore it, cuz the only way it was going to get better was to buy a new one, and so $800.00 later, it was money I did not want to spend, but I'm so glad I did, and so is DH!!

I am wishing you all a peaceful, blessed, healthy and happy Thanksgiving too!! emoticon

We recently had to replace ours, it was 12 years old (10 year warranty on ours, of course). No basements in AZ, so ours was in the garage. Glad you got yours replaced before any major damage was done. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

    Thanks Barbara.
For the warning. We have a leaking Hot Water heater, too and the water that comes out in the bathtub is practically a trickle. Unless it's cold water. I'm going to show your blog to Robert and ahve him check out the year it was installed.

Have a blessed thanksgiving friend.
