Yesterday I got out bright & early to deliver Thanksgiving food baskets to my clients. This is my kick-off event for the holiday season...always feels good to spread some good cheer!
Later yesterday afternoon I got out with the bike club having sent out an impromptu e-mail invitation for others to join me. Three folks did and we met downtown Binghamton at Confluence Park and set out southward for a flat 20 miles. As I started from home 10 miles north I wrapped up another 40 miles total.
I got to know one of my fellow club member a little better and found out he lost 90 pounds over the past 2 years and is as in love with cycling as I am. He also owns a Specialized bike, a more upscale Roubaix. Always a joy to find a kindred spirit!
Today I scored a cross country skiing package for only $150 at our local ski club used gear sale. Karhu Classic skis & Whitewoods Nordic Ski Boot (like new condition!) and non-descript poles for $5, but the right height. Still have to get bindings for the skis as the ones on it were not compatible with the boots. But another fellow was looking for those kind of bindings and bought 'em for $20. Figure that'll go toward the cost of the ones I'll have to get from the local ski shop. Since it was only $10 I went ahead and joined our local ski club too as they have cross country outings. I have NO interest in downhill...cx skiing will be more than enough challenge, thank you! :-) I've rented cx skis before but only a few times. Enough to know I can do it...sorta! Just have to get onto gliding the downhill slopes without having my feet scoot out from under!
the weather's been exceptionally sunny & mild so today I FINALLY caught up with my bazillion leaves and the mulching mower. Somehow I managed to trip over something as I was backing up with the mower and fell on my butt, hitting my back on something...at least I didn't bang my head onto the stone wall nearby! Nothing but garden variety lumps & bumps.
Tooth infection is about gone...heading in to have it yanked Tues. afternoon and will follow up to have a bridge put in a week or so later.
Hope everyone had a great weekend and is recharged & ready for the week ahead! :-)
