Ok, I'll admit it. I'm a Christmas Junkie. There. I've said it.
As soon as the weather turns cold, I get the irresistible urge to go shopping (mostly on line these days), start craft projects and bake traditional German Christmas goodies. I'll restrain myself from decorating the house until the 1st Advent Sunday and I'm rejoicing when it comes early, like this year it's November 27th. I go to Christmas craft fairs and if possible take in any Christmas Markets in the vicinity. Last year I was in heaven because I actually was in Germany in early December, thanks to my mother's foresight to have a birthday in November. This year I'll be checking out the Vancouver Christmas Market.
I LOVE the special foods we only get on Christmas. Even though a lot of them are around all year now, I won't buy or make them until the Christmas season.
And I know every driver will curse me but I LOVE snow. I love the stillness it brings to the landscape (until rush hour starts) and how clean and bright it makes everything look. I love having a snowball fight and I love seeing the lake all frozen and my dog trying to walk on it with a goofy expression on his face ("The water is hard!" - sorry Walt Disney).
So now my secret is out. But I don't care. I'll be too busy knitting scarfs in Vancouver Canucks colours - this year they'll win the Stanley Cup for sure! And I'l be busy baking and decorating and sitting by the fireplace just enjoying the season. And any Scrooges out there can just go and jump in the lake - as long as the ice is thin enough!
