A Trip Back in Time

Sunday, November 20, 2011

Losing weight is like taking a trip back in time.

I sat here thinking about the last time I weighed what I do today. It's been about three years. Before I lost my husband. Towards when I started my BS degree.

I continued this thought pattern and imagined a steady loss towards my goal weight, and I can begin to see how losing weight is like taking a trip back in time.

Soon I will be at the weight I was before I started having kids. It won't be long after that and I will be at the weight I was before I got married. Shortly after that, I will be at the weight I was before I met my husband.

I can see this progression continuing and I will have gone back to my high school (or even earlier!) weight. I don't know about you guys, but I find this losing weight/remembering life when you last weighed that amount connection fascinating.

I love the SparkPeople time machine!

Thank you for the time travel blog. It is a positive way of imagining yourself at those weights for what will become your future. Creating a new understanding of our new weight can be tricky. I think you may be onto something with this thinking strategy. :))

I've always thought it would be cool to write a time travel story about a woman who lost a lot of weight but no matter how much she looked in the mirror, she just could not see it. Then one day something transports her back in time to where she was overweight again. Obviously the end of the story would be her going back to current time having realized just how far she has come and finally being able to see herself in the mirror they way everyone else saw her in real life.

Time travel romance stories are my FAVORITE!

    Thanks!

I write, but I don't think I've ever written anything with a time travel theme. I do enjoy reading those types of books though :)

I love time travel stories, it's my favorite genre. I would love to go back to pre-childbirth weight, but it's seems so far out of the realm of possibility. I was too skinny in high school. Perhaps when i make my goal of 175, I can set one to lose another 15!
