A Time for Gratitude

Saturday, November 19, 2011

Isn't is wonderful that we live in a country that sets aside a full day for gratitude and Thanks giving!

Despite all the problems we are experiencing with our government, the economy, the riots that have emmanated from the sit ins, unemployment, we can still find reasons for giving thanks.

We can give thanks for our beautiful country, where we can travel anywhere in it without being checked at state borders by armed guards.

We have the right to vote and speak freely of our own opinions without the fear of reprisal.

We have the freedom to worship, and the right to read whatever we choose.

We (still) have the right to medical treatment with a doctor of our choice.

We have the right to attend schools and further our education.

No one can demand we work in a particular field, like many other countries do.

We have the right to bear arms, and the right to be heard in our courts.

We can have wonderful friendships with those of different faiths than our own without the worry of reprisal.

Oh, indeed, beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain.
For purple mountains, majesty, among the fruited plains!
America, AMERICA! God shed His grace on Thee!
And bound Thy GOOD with BROTHERHOOD,
from sea to shining sea!!
