Oh, Internet, I missed you so...!

Friday, November 18, 2011

Whouf!!

Well, finally, there's internet again - and if I'd had any concerns that I couldn't function without it, they've been laid to rest. In a "OMG I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT MY CONNECTIVITY!!" sort of way.

I'm spending today getting caught up on things, but I finally figured why I never gained weight (or lost it easily) while I lived in Boston. It wasn't just that I was young.

I WALKED EVERYWHERE.

I did a "typical day" of walking when I was in Cambridge last weekend - and almost fell over. I used to walk FIVE MILES a day just running around campus, and once I graduated, it was SIX just to get to and from work!

If I do eventually have to move to get away from the working-in-a-swamp that is DC, I'll be heading back to Boston - preferably Cambridge, preferably south of Central Square. And I'm totally going to find a job at one of the lovely universities in town, or start my own company doing.... I dunno. Something. And if that fails, I was reminded that I have a bunch of friends with their own companies that could use my skillset!

But mostly, I need to get walking again, and preferably do it somewhere that has non-swamp air!!

    Welcome back to the internets!

I do miss living somewhere where walking *everywhere* was doable--although not enough to go back to city living, which drove me pretty much completely crazy.

I definitely agree with you on the walking part. Whenever I go on vacation I always lose so much weight because I'm walking 8 to 10 hours a day. It's even easier to lose the weight when the area is super hilly.
