I started P90X in January 2011. I had been doing 3 months of good solid running and gym workouts and was getting nowhere on the scale so I decided to give P90X a try.
28.3% body fat (put me in the "fair" category.)
(5' 0", Age 43)
When I first started, even my hair was sore! Tony really works you over in these workouts! I had to do alot of modifying (I did not use a pull up bar, I did pushups or weight resistance instead). I found that my favorite workout was KenpoX and one of the least favorites was YogaX (90 mins!).
I P90Xed 6 days a week and kept running 3-4 days a week to train for a 4 mile leg I had in an upcoming relay. I was really racking up the fitness minutes! I only missed a handful of workouts the entire 3 months and I was also following the P90X fat shredder plan pretty faithfully.
There were days I didn't want to go on. There were days the last thing on earth I wanted to do was PUSH PLAY! To be totally honest, the results were coming very slowly and I frequently got discouraged.
But. I was getting stronger and I knew it. I felt healthier. My posture improved. Even if the outward results were not what I wanted, I knew my overall health and stamina were there.
I went back to trainer anxious to get my after results, after my 90 days were up.
28.3% Body Fat
WHAT??? My body fat stayed the same? I just worked my TAIL off for 3 months and my body fat stayed the same? Well, it is my disclaimer here that I just don't believe this. Although a different trainer did the "after" assessment, the same machine was used. Still, I believe there HAD to be a mistake somewhere. Atleast I knew I had lost 7 lbs.
The fact of the matter is, no, I did not get the (outward) results I had anticipated and hoped for. But, yes, I was still really fit and felt great and had alot more confidence. I was HAPPY! So happy, in fact, that I am doing round 2 now!
I lost all of my hard work after a foot injury put me down and I gained 15 lbs (2 sizes) in roughly 2 MONTHS.
I am starting over from scratch but am going to trust the program. And keep pressing play.
