cravings and migraines?

Thursday, November 17, 2011

Migraine has me in its grips-- I went off daily meds because of side effects and there is no surprise that this is happening as the semester ends and I have tons of marking and stress re this new job and all the ins and out(LOTS of them!). However, it is not helping!

I'm trying to stay clean and responsible with food, but I'm finding strange cravings!

What's up with pickles and nuts craving? Salt? I'm not Ms Salt Eater really so this is a bit surprising.

Dinner last night was pickles I'd HAD to buy before evening dog walk, Then for dinner pretzels and walnuts. Before I basically passed out for the night. NOT typical for me.

Made myself have a solid breakfast but craving was for salsa and more pickles! Not unusual for me to like spicy breakfast, but pickles, naww.

    Nuts = often equals B complex, zinc, salt and natural oils
Pickles = Salt, and Potassium

You may want to look at upping your Vitamins and minerals...

And Great Job on keeping it healthy!!!

    If you are getting weird cravings, then you should really discuss this with your doctor and make sure that it is not something else.

    I agree with RedShoes that cravings are a sign that your body is calling out for something that it needs. My guess is that with the dryness of the season, your body could be craving salt in order to retain water and keep your body hydrated. Are you making sure that you're drinking enough water every day?

    Perhaps run it past your doctor, sometimes cravings can be a sign the body is lacking something.. When I don't get enough essential fat my scalp itches and my skin gets dry, I start craving nuts.. I eat a handful and the craving and itching goes away..
And it happens every time lol
