extremely Frustrated

I have been to the doctor, I am not a saint but one of the healthiest eaters I know. I track my calories and my workouts,and have been for 15 months yet, I am still not able to lose much weight. It is way more than calories in and calories out, at least for me.

Does anyone else have this problem? I have lost 11 lbs in 15 months though I workout 3-5 times a week. I try to burn 1500 to 2000 calories each time. I usually eat 300 calories less than my bmi. Thus, when I work out I am well below burnt calories vs intake. I have 2 kids and became more inactive in previous years. It seemed that once a year I would suddenly jump up 10 lbs. I am 5'3" so 2 lbs shows on me though, the only good thing is, I guess I am bigger boned because people always assume I weigh 10-15 lbs less than I do.

And during the earlier times in life when I was always able to lose weight with no problems, whenever I would get close to 140 lbs I really looked to skinny and people would start being concerned I had an eating disorder. I never before had to include working out with weight loss I would just eat right and cut a few calories as usually it was because I started consuming too many calories.

That said, over this last 15 months I decided to make a lifestyle change that included consistant excercise. I've always liked being active but as my kids got older and I was busy running them to swim/basketball or whatever practice I was less active. My husband also started gaining weight. However, in this year he has lost 25lbs simply by going to the gym with me 1-3 times a week, eating less junk food and fewer sodas. I on the other hand can't seem to sell a lb though I don't drink soda. I don't eat a lot of junk, I generally don't buy it. I don't drink juice or other sugar drinks, I just don't like sweet drinks. And i work out 3-5 times per week with our without him. I love salad. I picked up the wonderful habit of eating salad everyday as an exchange student in France as a teenager. And NO I DON'T load it with dressing. I prefer to make my own or order it on the side at a restaurant because I like the blend of all the different vegies which you can't tast if it's drowned in dressing. And it's so versitile you can have salad every day and it be totally different each time.

I do prefer raw vegies to cooked so maybe that's another reason why I can eat salad every day. However, I do try and make well balanced meals. I have no medical issues other than I can't lose weight at any normal pace. I have low blood pressure not even average, no diabetes, no high cholestorol or anything else. I've had my thyroid tested and other blood tests my doctor suggested to figure out why I wasn't losing anything.

While I really enjoy working out so I definately will continue, I'm finding it frustrating that I am doing everything right and 11 lbs in a year? That's not normal and nothing for the last 4 months. Not 1 lb.

If anyone has any REAL suggestions other than excercise and eat less, please help. I really need to lose about 20-25lbs. I weigh 177 though I have friends about the same height as me that weight 10-12 lbs less and look like they weigh more. Which is why I am not trying to be 135 as my height would indicate. And no it is not just muscle. I do cardio and weights yes, but I am no body builder. My doctor says she has a hard time finding my overies with stomach manipulation because she can't feel past the muscle. But there is a fat layer that hides the 6 pack she claims I have.

Do I ever eat junk food? Yes. I would say I eat Cold Stone about 4 times a year. And we have a burger place we go to for our birthdays. On a weekly basis I can't say I eat anything bad simply because I don't buy it so I don't have access to it. I don't care for potato chips. I love chocolate which is why I don't buy it. I love cereal such as shredded wheats, honey bunches of oats, special K. and Raisin Bran. I'm not a sweet cereal person either. Those would be the main 4 cereals because my kids like them too. But I find I can't eat more than about 3/4 to a cup of cereal in a day because of the carbs otherwise I would eat that or salad for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And that was more of the cause of my gaining weight. Too busy to prepare a meal, eat a bowel of cereal.

Lastly, I may have peanut m &m's or a butterfinger or baby ruth once or twice a month during a certain week out of the month. It's when I seem to want some chocolate. I can't see anything I am doing that would not allow me to lose at least 1 lb a week let alone 2 in a month!!!

    The first thing that pops out for me is that you said you burn 1500-2000 calories each workout! That's at least 450o calories a week! You may not be eating enough. Food is fuel. Are you plugging in your workouts in the fitness tracker? Ot you can try
    ht-keep-it-off-permanently.htm to see if you're eating too few calories. I would definitely start there.....
