Winter Challenge--The Beginning

I joined the Winter Challenge for 20 Somethings with 50-99 pounds to lose team. This is my first challenge on SparkPeople (well except that one blog challenge I did once). Anyway, I'm really excited about it.

There were several factors that finally led me to this healthy journey and using SP, but the last push I had was a challenge from my sister. One of my sisters challenged me and another sister to follow Jillian Michaels' diet for the month of September. The one thing I picked up in Jillian's book was that I needed to count my calories. I found SparkPeople to help me with this--and found a whole lot more. This entire website has been really helpful.

I lost 10 pounds in September with my sisters pushing me. I continued in October and lost another 8 pounds. The beginning of November I was struggling and losing motivation.

Enter Winter Challenge. I decided to join for the extra push. A challenge got me started on this journey, a challenge will push me to continue.

So far the challenge has been going on for 2 days. I feel great! Confident. I have a great team. We've been chatting up a storm in the first non-fitness challenge. I stayed within my calorie range today. And I recorded everything. I went for a run/walk today when I was feeling like skipping. Those are big accomplishments for me.

One of my sparkfriends was saying that these last 2 months of the year are when people tend to gain 8 to 10 pounds. I understand. Year-end stress has been a friend of mine for the last 5 years. This is an incredibly busy time for me at work. But I will not allow that to ruin the work I've done. This year is different. I will make the last 8 weeks of the year count. With my team cheering me on and the challenge kicking me in the butt, there will be a differnce.
