Letting Go of the Safety Net

Wednesday, November 09, 2011

Today I finally took the big step of giving away all of my “fat jeans.” I have always hung on to a variety of sizes of jeans, since I knew that eventually I would “need them” again. Well, no more! I decided that keeping jeans that are several sizes too big is the same as admitting that you’re going to fail. If I’m living a healthy lifestyle, exercising and eating right, then there’s no reason why I should EVER need my fat clothes again. So they’re gone! Donated to Habitat for Humanity. They may as well do someone some good (the money made from the sale of donated items is used to build Habitat houses).

So good-bye fat jeans... hello success!!

I agree with everyone else -- you clearly did the right thing! I got rid of all of mine too because I just don't ever want to be tempted to go back.

It's funny because I saved a few pair to wear around the house. They make me feel so sloppy -- and give me such a false sense of my size - I have decided they're going too!

So proud of you girlfriend! xxxx

You've made such great progress in six months ... I'm impressed (and envious emoticon ). Giving your never-to-be-needed-again jeans to Habitat is a good things to do on several levels ...

Wonderful. They're like a security blanket waiting for us to come back to. You don't need them because you're never going back there! I just did a closet check and have a box of pants for GoodWill. I'm keeping one pair of the biggies for before and after, but the rest have to go. I've made this mistake before. My DH even said I should get rid of them and buy new ones. That's a lot coming from him, believe me. Happy Shopping!

Awesome and congrats! Isn't it somewhat freeing to know that you will NEVER-EVER need them again? No place to go but smaller and better from here.

And it is awesome that giving them away is going to benefit those in need.

Good move, you won't ever need them again, and it takes awhile to realize that.

I so identify with your blog here today!
It took me 'too long' to say "So Long!" to my old, larger size jeans.
I donated them to Goodwill where I hope they will be needed.

It's not only good-bye fat jeans. It's good riddance fat jeans! They are useless to you, they're only taking up space, and they will NEVER fit you again.
