Because It's There

Wednesday, November 09, 2011

I work as a paraprofessional in a grade school. There are several companies that regularly offer books at a seriously discounted prices.

Well, because "it was such a bargain," I HAD to buy a recipe book for bar cookies. Over the weekend, I had to try out at least one recipe, because I had invested in the book. Most of that I took to church on Sunday. Monday night WH asked me to bake cookies because raising the heat was going to raise the household humidity. So, I HAD to bake a pan of "Peanut Butter Fingers."

So now I have to indulge, because it's there. Moderation. Moderation. Moderation. I can do this. Maybe.

It was gratifying to see all the responses to my come back blog. It made me feel very appreciated, and, to be truthful, feeling unappreciated has been an issue over the last few months. Thanks a whole bunch.

I'm glad you're back too! Thanks for your comment today. And I love your hula hoop video -- I have never been able to do that! (although I was a pretty good endurance pogo sticker jumper emoticon ).

I love 2Hamsdiet's baking advice -- that's what I need to incorporate into my baking!

I was just outside raking leaves and cleaning up flower beds for the winter.

I thought that I could smell goodies baking!!

No wonder I was so hungry when I came in.

Baking is one of my favorite things to do but I have had to put rules in place. In a nut shell is that I have to have a home for them before I even think of cooking and then my husband can only have 2 and me one at the most( they are a few things that I have discovered that I don't love so why eat them as the smells are enough) Plus they must leave the house right away. In fact I might go make some biscotti for a friend today as the house will smell so good all day. It is a win win as long as I keep my focus and eat well so I don't save too many calories for foods that leave me hungry. I'm leaning to enjoy the process, smells and the memories of baking and to leave the guilt behind.

I could never be truly moderate around a batch of peanut butter cookies - they were always my favorite. My mother made them often, and there were never many left by the time they were all baked.

Oh no! That sounds delicious and dangerous!! Any other places you could take the new batch to gift them out? Maybe an evening service at your church on a different day?
