I can't believe it's already been over a week since my show! Originally I had been really worried about the time after the show, because I have heard horror stories of girls going totally crazy and eating everything and putting on 15-20 pounds or more in the first few days after the show. I knew that I would put back on some weight, because you have to dehydrate, so some of the weight you lose right before the show is water weight. But I wanted to stay in control.
My rules for after the show were given to me by my coach. She said to eat whatever I wanted on the Saturday night after the show and also all day Sunday. The most important thing being not to overeat. So I ate slowly and stopped when I felt full, but I enjoyed whatever I wanted!
Then for last week, my "transition week" she said to just eat clean, I didn't have to track anything and I could have 1 treat a day. Now this I didn't do so well on. I didn't like not tracking things and I would end up going too long without eating and then be hungry. And some days I had more than one treat. I was also bloated and icky feeling most of the time. So I was so happy to get back on a plan this week. Although maybe that "week off" helped me to appreciate how much better I do and feel on a structured plan. It sure helped me realize that I NEED that plan!
Now since I have been back eating properly for the last couple of days my weight has stabilized at 135, which is 4 pounds up from where I was before the show, before I dehydrated. I still have some stubborn areas of body fat that I would like to get rid of, but at this point it's all about body composition and not so much about the scale. I have to put on some muscle in the upper body to balance myself out for my next show, so in doing that I may be able to burn off that body fat and the scale may not change, so I'm not going to worry about that number.
I also found that having another goal to work towards has helped me to refocus right after the show and not have too long of a time when I could just "do whatever" which for me is a recipe for disaster. Luckily I loved competing and I'm already preparing for my next show! I have just 22 weeks until my next show and I have some muscle to put on before then! I'm looking forward to changing up my workouts and working on this next goal. I promise to keep you updated on my progress and I will have more pictures as soon as I get them from the photographer!
