1st Week Challenge Update!

So I am on my 8th day of the November Challenge. So far, so good. My first week I lost 2lbs, which is great! However, I thought that I would get a higher number since I've cut out so many carbs. But a loss is a loss, and I'll take it! :)

I also decided to order Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred DVD. I know my trainer, Scott, is probably thinking, WTH! I have a great plan for you, and there's not need for it! lol But- the fact that the workouts are only about 20-25 minutes long- it's perfect for me when I am running short on time!

I received it yesterday, and jumped right into it. I only did the first part because, again, I was running low on time, however, she managed to kick my butt. I don't have little free weights, so I am going to stop at Walmart tonight to get some, but last night I used my kettle bell where ever I could- it seemed to work well. Again, I really enjoyed it and it managed to give me a good sweat- and after all, that's what we want right? So to be able to pull that off in about 25 mintues, is fantastic!

I also have made huge improvements in my day to day. Since the time change I have had much more energy. I think it helped that on Sunday evening I went to bed at 9, which really would have been 10pm. I got up around 6:45 so it was nearly 10 hours of sleep. A great way to start my week since I usually only get about 6-7hrs. Thanks to this burst of energy, I have prepared dinner in the AM, (currently I have a delicious meal sitting in the crock pot!), I have made sure to bring a good lunch, and I have managed to get in a good breakfast! Oh, and wait for it- wait for it....I even made my bed!!! lol I usually make it when I get home from work, if I make it, so this is certainly good for me!

I guess this all sounds silly, but really it's a lot of good for me. I'm starting to see that there is need for more organization and order in my life to be successful with my health. I can't get up at 7:50 and be at work for 9, when I have a 25 minute drive there. That gives me 30 minutes to shower, get ready, make a lunch, have breakfast, and so on. But, lets face it, I'd usually run out the door without a lunch, catch breakfast on the run, and make it there for 9:05.....

I read a blog a last week, and I can't remember for the life of me who it was, but they talked about how they made sure they had plenty of time to have a nice breaky in the moring, get ready wihout rushing, made their way to work a few moments early, and just doing that allowed them to have a better, stress free day. Well, that's what I am aiming for! So far, so good!!

And so there you have it. A boring blog really, but just a little something for me to log in the progress.

    This is NOT boring! You are making serious strides here to notice that in addition to a "spark" in our health life, we need to "spark on" the other facets of our life--organization, pre-planning, etc.

    Congrats on your great first week!

    I know just how you feel about organization and order. It's amazing how much easier everything feels when you've had a few minutes to prepare or think things through. It's a struggle for me, so I applaud you. Keep it up!

    FYI - cans of soup are perfect replacements for 1lb weights!!!!

    it's okay to change things up, so if the new dvd works well for you during the crunch times, go for it!! the 2 lb loss is great my friend, and right on track for more success down the line! be careful not to cut out too many carbs though, you need them for energy...especially before and after your workouts emoticon ....the breakfast habit will come in time, believe me, i used to be so rushed in the morning, only time for some calorie laden coffee drink and a special k bar.....but now....can't even imagine my morning without a decent meal to start the day.....keep plugging away my are doing awesome!! one suggestion on the weights though...if you have a second hand sports store up there, i would check them out before trekking to walmart, or even search craigs list......just an idea emoticon
