Halloween candy?

Monday, November 07, 2011

One of our BLC assignments was to blog about successes. After the past week of reading blogs about the demonic Halloween candy experiences of some Spark friends, I guess that a really positive NSV is that I didn't eat any Halloween candy, nor did I actually want to eat it. We didn't have Trick or Treat at home since we were on our way back from AZ, but there is plenty of Halloween candy currently in the house since DH uses the holiday as an excuse to create a personal stockpile which he "hides" in his home office (everyone knows it's the third drawer down in the file cabinet, lol). I've also seen it on the counters at every place I've been during the last week - rental car companies, doctor's offices, stores, etc., and it was not tempting me in the least. Although I never went really crazy on Halloween candy, that never stopped me from mindlessly picking up a piece wherever offered, or raiding our own trick or treat stash during the course of Halloween evening. So this current apathy toward the sugary side of this holiday is quite encouraging!

That's such a great NSV! I didn't even buy an candy for Halloween. That night DD & I went to the Mall (where they do have trick or treating but we didn't get anything.) I did get my 1 free Godiva truffle though & it was really good!

I felt that same way....although it helped that I had my cold and was in bed! LOL! No seriously.....I felt a shift in the way I viewed the candy....like it was nothing special. It really isn't so it's not worth it! yay you and yay me and to everyone else out there who is slowly but surely changing!!

I am with you! I have resisted the halloween candy at work. First day I wavered and thought about it, but that was just a moment and I never even considered it after that.

I don't like most Halloween candy, and of that which I do like, I don't see the point in overindulging during one day, since it's available year-round (albeit in a more boring wrapper). DH did purchase one bag of Reese's pb cups (mini) in case we had trick-or-treaters, but nobody came this year, either.

Nope, I'm not a big candy eater either. Although, I have been know to grab a piece if there is nothing else around and I seem to have low blood sugar. Now ice cream? That's another story.

You are amazing - seriously. I'm in awe. I've eaten more chocolate in the past week than I have in 8 months. Great NSV!

Good for you! I also had no Halloween candy. I was a little tempted, but not too much.

    Great!

I love candy corn, and I guess it is really hard on the diet. I avoided looking at it, therefore avoided eating it.

You did great!
