The first one is that I think my metabolism burns higher than SparkPeople has calculated. I come to this theory because I am losing weight faster than my goal date. I set it for middle of next year and at my average loss, I'm going to be there by the end of this year or shortly after New Year's. I wasn't trying for the end of 2011 and yet it seems like it is a reality.
This past week I stayed near the higher end of my range and still lost nearly three pounds. Perhaps the reason I spent the previous three weeks bobbling up and down was because I wasn't getting *enough.* The lower end of the range might be too low for my needs.
I get to my calorie range lately, and I'm still hungry. Not craving munchies, not having an appetite. Just plain old hungry. Although this might be partially connected to my second observation.
The second observation is this. It's only November, it's 20°C in the house. But I have put on a lot of layers as though I was walking through snow. Double socks, three layers over my top half. I cannot even type without gloves on because my hands get cold and numb. This problem only cropped up for me in the past on super cold days during the deepest part of winter. It's still fall.
So I found myself wondering about it and then a light came on. Arctic animals have layers of fat to keep warm. I've lost over 55 pounds. My fingers are skinnier. Other bits, skinnier. I have lost some insulation! I don't have the fat to keep me warmer anymore. So I guess that means I'm going to be bundled up like nuts until spring. Kind of depressing really. But not enough to make me want to get the fat back, lol.
Perhaps I'm hungrier lately because I'm using up more fuel to try to keep my internal furnace warm. So perhaps this week, I shall deliberately keep to the higher end of my range and see what happens.
I hope this head cold will not last as long as the previous cold. Of course, the last one was more of a chest & head cold. All I know is I can't breathe! Ack!
G'night everyone. Keep on Sparking!
