Walking in Boston
Sunday, November 06, 2011
After driving to Western MA to leave my dog with my sister and brother-in-law while I am away, I headed to Boston. My friend who is going with me on vacation has an apartment in the Seaport District. We had lunch at Legal Seafood on Boston Harbor. I had their "Big Bowl" (a salad) with 4 grilled shrimp -yummy. As I didn't have my usual walk with my dog today, I asked if we could walk after lunch. It was brisk but sunny. We walked up along the harbor until we got to the Rose Kennedy Greenway. We visited the "Occupy Boston" tent city area before walking on through to the Financial District. I must say the protesters seem very organized and had some of the most intelligent signs and banners I had ever seen in this type of thing. My friend showed me where her new office will be in the Financial District. Her office will be on the 22nd floor with a water view. I would find it hard to keep my attention on my work! We then wandered around a bit - found a charming square with a statue of Robert Burns in it. There was no inscription; so I am not sure why it is there.
Then we headed back toward her apartment, stopping at a bakery to buy a loaf of multigrain bread. All I want for dinner is a nice peanut butter sandwich on that bread. It was a great walk - maybe about 3 miles in total. I love Boston and any opportunity to explore it further.
Tomorrow afternoon we fly to Portugal; so I may not be on Spark for some time, but who knows, if we have goof WiFi available, I may be checking in. Otherwise, I'll have photos and tales when I return!
