I live in a very nice suburb of the Illawarra coast, named Albion Park. Well, it could be nicer. We are infested with young idiots who think nothing of senseless vandalism, littering, and graffitti. Broken glass and garbage is EVERYWHERE. Blank walls and fences are mere invitations for paint scrawls and profanity. A favorite pastime is setting things on fire. Makes my head get full of hornets.
I don't believe there's nothing to be done about it. I don't believe the council/city doesn't have "resources" to deal. I think it's laziness on all sides. Frankly, I'm all for citizens armed with Tasers.
Two years ago we went to the beautiful island/state of Tasmania. Litter and graffitti were so rare that when we saw some, we'd say "Ooops...someone from Albion Park was here".
Same with the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Lovely and CLEAN.
My kids know that if they got up to such behaviour, I'd kick their butts around the block and back again. Where are these kids' parents? Who or what gave them the idea that all this senseless crap is OK? I'd better never hear any one of them whine that they do it because they are "bored"...I'd headbutt the little creep.
Arrgghhh.
On a lighter note, one of our backyard cockatoos has decided to cling to the screen door and rattle it when he feels the need for multigrain bread and attention. If the sight of a cheeky big white bird with his yellow crest bristling doesn't cheer a person up, I don't know what would!
