Roller Skating Woohoo Vlog

Audrey and I wanted to share a woohoo moment from last Friday. We went skating! This was a big deal to Audrey. She had a pretty bad skating accident when she was younger and she's been afraid to try since then. (Imagine doing a full face plant on the concrete and you get the picture.) At any rate, she mustered up the courage and skated! By the end of 2 1/2 hours, she was feeling more confident and even said she wanted to do it again someday. Fear conquered! Although, she said her dream of being a roller derby girl probably isn't gonna happen...
I skated too! Not sure I would've tried it 26 lbs ago, but this time, I didn't want to sit on the sidelines. That's not what SparkPeople do. I had so much fun and got in some exercise too. Can't wait to skate another 20 lbs from now!
Yours Woohooily,

I used to skate on the concrete floor in the basement when I lived with my parents. I didn't have a thing on my skates to stop with. I never learned to use inline skates. My skates had four wheels, two on the front of the skates, two on the back of them. It was a lot of fun.

YAY Audrey, for overcoming your fear of falling!!!!

Way to go Audrey! I don't think I've roller skated since I was in 6th grade just like you. But I'm 55 now LOL We'd have so much fun trying different tricks, and we probably looked ridiculous, but we didn't care and we had so much fun! Thanks for the trip down memory lane! Good for you!

I loved it when you said Sparkpeople do not sit on the sidelines. Way to go! Audrey may not want to be roller derby girl but she is Sparks official Hula Hoop girl! Love seeing her in the vlogs. She has such a cute personality even when she does not say anything but in her body language. You Rock Audrey!

Boy that brought back so many memories!!!!! I use to roller skate a lot when I was a teen. There are no more open indoor roller skating rinks where I live so you are blessed to have one in your area that is open. They all closed due to lack of business when inline skating and skate parks became the fad here. I dont think Oregon has any left that are open. So i lived through you guys skating and I had fun!

You two are the best! Great job to Audrey on moving past your fear. If you really do want to be a roller derby girl, go for it! Now I kinda want to go out and try to skate. I don't think I've been on roller skates since I was umm... a whole lot younger than I am right now!

Audrey, you are amazing! Great work - I'm also afraid of skating (in my case, Ice skating - but close enough) and always have to get my feet under me. While I know that I'll never be an Olympian - I just go out and have fun, and remember laugh.

Shelli, you wonderful woman, you! Look at you go! You have such amazing courage and determination - what a wonderful Non Scale Victory for you!

Ladies, together you have made my night. emoticon
