Started back on the elliptical last week, for the first time since I had tendonitis wayyyy back in March. It took forever to heal...almost 4 weeks in a boot and physical therapy twice a week for months. It's so amazing to be able to walk normally, without pain...I'm so grateful for something that I will probably not take for granted again!
I started out at 1.25 miles the first time, and have gone 1.5 miles 3 other times. It actually feels really good to do it (and I really don't like to exercise). I was excited to see that I have been feeling more energetic, too. I just put on the most pumped-up songs that I have on my ipod and go to it! Music really helps...something about the beat just pushes me.
Halloween is so very different with one child in college and one who is a senior in high school! I miss going all out on decorating inside and out. Carving the pumpkin the night before, and having the kids exclaim over pulling out squishy pumpkin guts...I miss rushing through dinner to help my kids into their costumes, applying makeup, all in a whirlwind of excitement! My son used to be so excited, that he would hardly sleep the night before. Back in those days, we used to get between 80-100 kids at our door. Not anymore! We're down to only 30-40 kids now. (Some of that leftover candy will have to go to work with my husband.) My neighbor's two year old stole my heart last night...he was in an adorable lion costume with a little flashing light, with the mane framing his face and eyes big and round...soooo cute!
So, my high school senior already received one acceptance into college! He was soooo happy to be accepted into Pitt. He finished 2 more apps, and has 3 more to go. Hoping that he gets accepted by his top choice (crosses fingers). Will know at the end of December, since they have early action.
My husband, unfortunately, has now been diagnosed with diabetes. His glucose has been high for almost a year. His doctor is giving him three more months to try to shed a few pounds, to see if his numbers will drop before starting him on oral meds. Keeping my fingers crossed that it does. He is only about 20 lbs overweight; I suspect that genetics is playing more of a role in this than anything. I love him very much, and just want him to be as healthy as he can be!
This was a lot, but it's been a long time since I have written. Thanks for reading :)
