Can I just say, Halloween candy?

Friday, October 28, 2011

OK, I raided my son's candy bag today. It's a good thing my calories were reallylow for the day. I still managed to stay under my calorie target for the day, but I need to lay off the sugar and up the protein.

Don't worry about what you did today. Just start again tomorrow.

I'm not sure I'd ask my kids to hide the candy--after all what message does that send? That you lack self-control and personal accountability, so they must therefore control you, and, on top of that, your success or failure lies with them? Or perhaps that there is something wrong with candy per se, so they "shouldn't" be eating it themselves, and oh, by the way, they'll need to find someone to hide it from them when they are grown?

I think it might be more helpful simply to admit that candy does not support your goal--to lose weight--so you made a poor choice, a mistake you don't intend to repeat.

Then, don't repeat the mistake. You'll not only help yourself continue to lose weight, you'll also provide your children an beautiful example of an adult who handles her own life with maturity and commitment.

We're all human, just get back on track and definitely make sure your kids hide their candy bags well after they trick or treat!

Welcome to spark!! I don't have any kids at home so my candy bags haven't been opened yet. Tell your kids to hide their bags after the big night (after the safety check of course). Hard time of year to start and then there is Christmas. That was what drove me over the edge and I started my Spark journey in January of this year. Good luck with yours.
