I'm going to be a Nurse...and a skinny one at that!

Friday, October 28, 2011

I found out yesterday that I got into the Nursing school at my university!!!!! I am one of 30 people accepted for the winter semester starting in Jan. Around 500 people apply each semester and the average GPA for those that get in is 3.93.

This is a big deal for me. I've been working toward this for the last two years. I was even thrown a bit of a hurdle when I got pregnant and had my second daughter half way through completing my prerequisites. I had my daughter 10 days before the winter 2011 semester began. So many people told me I couldn't do it and that I should withdraw from my classes. My sister-in-law (gotta love her) even told me that having a baby meant I shouldn't and wouldn't be able to get into the nursing program.

So mostly I'm here today to say "IN YOUR FACE!" to everyone who doubted me and to say "thank you for believing in me" to the few people who did.

Now it is down to business! I have 75 days until I start classes and I would like to buy my coveted university nursing scrubs in a smaller size.

My motto while I was working toward getting into the Nursing program was:

Keeping that in mind got me through a lot of all night anatomy study sessions. This is also my motto with my diet and fitness goals. Some days I won't want to work out, but it is what I need to I will do it!!

I'm very very proud of you! I work in our campus health center at University of Hawaii and we work with the nursing students all the time. Very dedicated bunch! Hard program to get into so you should be very proud of yourself. I'm working on my pre requesites myself for our program and should be admitted for the next Fall session. You'll be a semester ahead of me. Congratulations to you!

Congratulations on getting accepted into your nursing program!

Love your motto - I'm a procrastinator so I'm definitely going to put that into practice starting today!

Nice blog! And congrats on getting into Nursing School. I love being able to say "IN YOUR FACE" to those who are so negative. I had my first daughter after my freshman year in college and my family didn't think I was going to graduate. To their surprise, it only took me 5 years to graduate instead of the normal 4 years. I sure showed them! Negative comments like that just make us want things THAT much more.

Good for you for sticking to what you want to do. I know you are going to reach your goal in the next 75 days!
