Spark People Day 181
Cardio Streak Day 179
I got up around 0600 this morning and needed to make a run to the market so I got dressed and headed to the one market open 24 hours. Not only do I like the early mornings (quite a change from college so many years ago!) but if I absolutely MUST go to the market, thatís the only time of day to do itÖ there are no other humans in the store except for early morning stockers. Thatís the way I like it, no waiting in line for anything!
I came back home, had breakfast and watched The Biggest Loser that I missed last night. I normally donít care for so-called reality shows with this one exception. It gives me some motivation because seeing a guy who weighs over 300 pounds sprinting at 9.5 mph gives me the impetus do to it also. Itís a challenge to me so suck it up and bump it up a little on the workouts.
This morning is scheduled for intervals:
60 sec run / 120 sec walk Ė repeat for 24 minutes:
45 sec run / 105 sec walk Ė repeat for 10 minutes:
30 sec run / 90 sec walk Ė stop at 60 minutes total.
I was rested enough but my legs are a little tired from the past few days. Otherwise, the workout was good. I finished the hour at 4.25 miles which of course includes the walking intervals.
I decided to add something to my workouts today. I donít know if this will become an everyday event but I suspect it will not become so. This afternoon at 1645hrs I went for a second workout. This new addition is a ten minute afternoon jog - with warm up, of course.
I have tracked my other workouts, intervals and jogging days, and have both on separate graphs. (I like graphs). The average time per mile is going downward on both graphs which is a very good thing. Iíve added this new workout to get its own graph going in the opposite directionÖ one of the reasons is to see how far I can go in ten minutes. Today it was 0.85 miles.
I will probably do this every other day but like everything else, it will be subject to how my legs feel on any given day. If I can do it five days a week, so be it. Regardless, it will be a few extra calories and an extra burn during the day. Maybe it will help get me off this plateau Iíve been on for a few weeks! (I've also decided to lay off the peanut butter for a few days to see if that helps, although the total calories I'm eating is well within limits).
With two workouts and two warm up and cool down periods, todayís total was:
759 calories burned
