Early AM or Late Night PM workouts??

Tuesday, October 25, 2011

Which one is better...maybe more efficient, an early morning work out or a late night one before going to bed? I had some extra energy after getting off of work, so I decided to rock out one of my Jillian Workouts. I have a hard time getting up early in the morning, so I thought this may be good.
But still leaves me wondering....which is better??? Thoughts anyone??

I agree! Whatever fits your schedule is the best route.

When I worked sporadically I liked to get my workout in in the morning. I like to complete my weekend workouts in the morning now, too. However, I am not *that* early of a riser to workout before work, so during the week I workout in the evenings after work.

I'd say- whatever works for you and keeps you going, then do it!

I think, as long as you get it in, it's all good. I usually work out at night. But the other night, when I went to bed, my heart was beating really hard and I had a hard time getting to sleep. But that's only happened the one time. So far, the evening workout work for me. Happy Halloween weekend! ...Not too much candy, now... All things in moderation! Hope you have a great weekend! Keep up the good work! Thanks for the encouragement! Spark on! emoticon

I've no choice to workout at night, but I love it and I get tired so it helps me sleep better. Have fun no matter wht you do!

Hugs,

K

I agree with it's when you feel best to work out. I have heard working out at night can keep you up since it can give you energy but if you can sleep - go for what works!

The best time to work out is when you prefer to work out. If you have a hard time getting up in the morning, you are more likely to skip your workouts. Do what is best for you and your schedule.

I work out in the AM...I am a morning person, so I get up before 5 and work out for an hour before everyone gets up and then we get ready for work & school. This way at night, I dotn have to worry if I'm too tired to work out. And I'm more energized throughout the day. But you have to do what works for you. If you would rather do it after work, then thats what works for you. Sometimes I do yoga when I'm really stressed and need to relax at night.

I think either will be just as good for your body. I know that personally, I like to workout in the morning. I feel like I start my day off right. I am more awake at work. And I tend to eat healthier throughout the day because I feel like I worked too hard in the morning to scuander it on junk food.
I also find that I have a better chance of going if I do it first thing in the morning. I have a tendency to either talk myself out of going after work or make other obligations.
Like I said, either time will be beneficial for your body bc exercise is good for you no matter what time. It just comes down to what suits you best. :)
Goodluck!

Ultimately you have to do what fits into your schedule.
If you get into the habit of morning exercise, even if it's only 20-30 minutes, you will get a lot of benefits - sleep better at night, extra energy during the day, fewer missed workouts due to schedule conflicts, burn off fat calories before breakfast, wash/shower once instead of twice, option of getting in another workout later in the day, and more.
If you workout in the evening you can work off some of dinner's calories, warm of the body and stretch before settling down to sleep (some people find it hard to go to sleep after a workout), have something to look forward to during the day...
So do what works for you. Any movement and activity counts!

I do a walk jog first thing in the morning. It wakes me up and I have energy all day! (I am slow to start, but once I get started...I feel great!)
Good luck to you!
