Century ride done

Ok sort of.... The thing is that I finally did my 100 mike ride on Sat. The weather was perfect, little wind, stars out in the early am, the temperature didn't get over 83. My bike ran good no mishaps, the support was awesome the views beautiful. I seen eagles soaring overhead, birds chirping that I had not heard in a long time(living in the city) you could not ask for better riding conditions.
It was just me. I never got the energy surge that you get when you riding. At the start I told myself it was early and it was ok to start slow but the whole 1st half I was just making it after the second rest stop I just couldn't pull out of it. As a matter of fact when i came to the turn off for the 75 miles I actually turned but then tuned back to the 100 I told myself I had to at least keep trying but then 8 miles into that, I had hill after hill and again I pulled off the road, I looked up and down the hill two or three times and told myself, I'm done i'll never finish in the allotted time but then I decided it's ok I'll go until they close the course and have to put me in the truck. So, that's what I did for 9.5 hours I just peddled and peddled.
It as the worst ride I have ever had. The thing is I know I can do it but Saturday my body just wasn't there. I'm bummed I have to admit I only did 90.04 instead of the 101.23 but it's ok. It happens and next year I'll do great.
So no my century ride is not complete because I didn't finish but I attempted it and that's ok. 90 miles is nothing to be ashamed of. The main thing is that I didn't give up even though I contemplated it a couple of times and the next day I felt great, a few aches but nothing like you would think. It's all good and now to the next challenge : )
