Well, let's be clear. I'm not really new to Sparkpeople, in fact I joined this site over 3 years ago. My current Sparkstreak is over 400 days.
My point is I'm new to using this wonderful site for all it has to offer. Oh, I logged in daily, spun the wheel, logged my breakfast, played trivia at the end of the month I got my trophies. But nothing in me changed. I was not healthier, thinner, exercising more......nothing!!!
My light came on about 2 months ago. I read my weekly hightlighted Sparkpeople blog email. I believe it was titled "The Mystery of Motivation" It was such a well written blog and made me really think.

We started writing to each other several times a week.
We tell each other our struggles and victories. It has made all of the difference in the world in my quest to get healthier. It didn't happen immediately, but it did happen (also my jeans were getting a bit too snug and I refused to go up a size !) So to all of you "newbies" out there like me (and others who may really be new to this site), I recommend
you get a friend or two to help you stay motivated. You don't know how you say? Well join a team, read members blogs, post comments. You will find someone you connect with, I promise. It may take a bit of work on your part, but if you're serious, it will happen. And to the motivators out there (i.e. Christi) thank you for sharing your journey with us. You probably don't have any idea how many people you have touched, but know that you have made a positive difference in this world and that makes you special in my book
