As you know, my husband and I drove to South Carolina this weekend to visit some good friends we have known for thirty years. They live in a beautiful part of the country, and their idyllic surroundings exude peace and serenity. I thought I would share a few photos of a morning walk around their neighborhood.
There are tiny lakes or lagoons throughout their neighborhood.
Here I spotted a wood stork, I think our hostess said. At another little pond, I found this alligator sunning himself.
Spanish moss hangs from the live oak trees everywhere. In this picture it hangs down to the top of my head.
Around every curve, peace and quiet were present...I can see why our friends love it here as their retirement paradise.
Looking up at the moss...
Murrells Inlet is a bay known for its fantastic seafood!
The parking lots are covered in shells.
Pawley's Island has been known for its hammocks for nearly 100 years!
Thank you so much for your lovely blog, Evelyn! It is also very special to see this beautiful photo of you! Indeed, I understand why your friends love it there... It feels like paradise to me! I am glad you had the opportunity to spend time with them there and to walk around their area. I think the first photo is my favorite, but I also love the one with the hammocks... I feel they are just waiting for us!!! 2011 days ago
Wow-do I know that area well!! Before we moved to Florida, we went here 2 -3 times a year 20 years on vacations! We even thought of moving there before FL, but the taxes/benefits are not as beneficial there for retiring as Fl is. But, I know what you mean-wonderful place! I know the area as well as Florida! Glad you had a great time and thanks for sharing it! This is exactly what I love to see my SPF's doing-photo blogs of where they visit or even where they live!!
P.S. Next time you go, if you haven't already-- take a walk around Brookgreen Gardens near Myrtle Beach! Gorgeous!!! 2012 days ago
