Well, the cold bug has hit our house! Started with my eldest and worked it's way right through us, hitting me LAST, of course! I learned something with that cold, though: At the worst of the cold, my lungs were stiff & congested, so I did not work out for two days. On the next day, feeling much better, I hopped onto the treadmill and went at it like usual, only to find it was almost like getting on the treadmill for the very first time!!! My calf muscles burned, my lungs screamed. Even my elbows were stiff and not wanting to cooperate!! All I could do was push through, walking instead of jogging as I had planned. Talk about UGGGGGGG! So, I learned that no matter how much I may want to skip a few days of working out, I am NOT going to!! It was NOT fun!
On a side note, the goal of eventually running a 5K is going well. The last few weeks I have been jogging for 2 mins, walking for 3 mins. This week I started 2 mins jogging and 2 mins walking. It is deff stepping things up a bit, but it feels good. No pain. Mentally I have to push myself. I also dropped down to 2 miles instead of 3, just until I feel ready for more distance. I feel pretty good. I know really running is going to take me a while. I was so out of shape . That is the hardest part. My heart wants to go run a 10K!! But my brain knows I am NO WHERE near ready!! LOL Baby steps. It is kind of neat to talk to my brother & Dad about running, too. It really makes me proud of myself to share with them how I am doing. My brother is an avid runner, having trained himself up to have run three 5Ks already! And my Dad used to run marathons.
