I have tried all day to get to a real live person on three different issues.
Since September 7th I have not been able to use my original email account, I used it for my business and I never thought it would ever be changed. Now since some dirty rotten scoundrel hacked my computer I cannot use that e-mail any more.
I called my ISP wanting to close my e-mail account. He told me I would not need to do that, they said I only needed to change the password. Since that date I have been sending our sons e-mails from that account. They all got the mail and it was just fine, when they e-mailed to tell me it was OK, they immediately got an AUTO-RESPONSE from my e-mail telling them to fill out a form to go to Qatar and they had money in an ATM machine to be picked up. I reported this to ISP and Norton and I have spent hours on this. I was not able to e-mail since my outbox was blocked. My mail had already generated 61,000 e-mails so i could not send to anyone from my account.
I was happy to find Spark people and friends were there for me through his nightmare. This has been 5 weeks now.
I finally started to use my free account from years ago and I have sent e-mails today on that account and I have e-mails back, I thought this was over and I could get on with my life. NO WAY!!
Tonight I was asked to sign in to access my free account, I put in my original password and it would not accept it. The original sign up password never had numbers. It said I had to change my password. I tried to change the password and it came back that account is already taken.
OF COURSE IT IS . IT IS MY ACCOUNT!!
Then they wanted my original E-mail address I had used to open the account. It no longer exists.
They asked me to tell them the most recent e-mail content. As soon as I changed my address all of the old messages, In, Out and Sent are gone, even the drafts I had saved are gone so I have nothing to go by. Nothing with which to verify the old account.
I have searched and asked questions in boxes that constantly say SIGN IN AAARRRGH!!! How can I sign in when they will not allow me to use my account and they will not send me a password unless it goes to the original account that I have closed.
I very much doubt i will sleep tonight. Thank goodness DH was here. When I called for accounts at my ISP I got sales. Eventually I convinced the guy I had to close my account. I got to another man who would not listen to me when I told him I am not of your generation I have no idea what you are talking about, I just do not speak "computerese", I just speak plain English.
He put me on with a woman who screamed in the phone, just about killed my ear so I had to switch the phone to the ear that was not aching till she screamed so hard I called to DH to please explain we want to close the old account and open a new account. I went to my room and just wanted to cry but that solves nothing .
All I would like to tell microsoft is that most of their techs are under 30 I am certain some are less than 18 and I always ask them to explain and of course they can not. They think that those of us over 60 are all senile and they should not be allowed to use computers.
When my computer was Hacked, or Phished or whatever the bad people did to it, I called and gave them all the information. The mail came to me from their address and the next words I heard were "Lady this is your fault not ours" You should have called us and asked if we had sent you the mail. We do not send e-mails. I get them often from them like my bill and the incentives to get them new customers for a free month of service. So who thinks they never send e-mails.
I am back to square one, all I want is a telephone and a real live, soft spoken human being who can get my alternate address up and running,
This is the 21st century and I came in to it reluctantly.
That's my story so Please keep those spark mails coming I doubt I will get this resolved some day soon . I wonder if I will get any e-bills.
Oh My if i don't there will be late fees, i never thought about that happening till now.
NONE of my family can e-mail me and they have all forgotten how to pick up the phone. I hope I will be talking to them all tomorrow. Different time zones and work schedules that was what made e-mail so perfect around the globe.
I hope this ends soon it is really getting me DOWN________________!!!!!!
