My new nephew!

Monday, October 17, 2011

Just wanted to blog about my newest nephew real quick! He was born on Sunday around 2:15am. He's just precious. My sister got checked on Thursday and no dilation, so they scheduled an induction for Wednesday o this week. Friday she went home from work with mild contractions. Saturday morning she lost her mucous plug. Around 3pm they went to the hospital, but she was only 1.5 centimeters dilated, so they went home. The rest of the family went to a baby shower for my other sister. Around 7 proboably, my brother in law called that my sister's water had broken so they were headed to the hospital. We all arrived around 8:30 or so and she was only 4 centimeters dilated. She asked for the epidural immediately, so we all went back to see her for a few minutes before they administered. We couldn't go back there once she had the epidural, so we all waited in the lounge while my BIL text updates throughout the night. Around 1am, she was finally at 10cms, but they made her wait 20 minutes to start pushing. She pushed for around an hour, and Jaxson was born around 2:15 am. We got to see him around 2:30am. Everyone was doing fine--though BIL was pretty pale and nervous. (:

This is just about 30 minutes after birth:

We all went home around 3. My sister called the next morning at 9 asking my mom to go up to the hospital so BIL could go home and shower and eat. My sister and I went up there around 10:30 and stayed for about an hour. Everyone was doing fine. Jax slept most of the day/night, only waking up around 5:30 to feed for a few minutes, then slept straight through until 11:30 when my sister woke him up to feed. This is just prior to the feeding:

I haven't talked to my sister yet today, but she is to be released around noon today if all goes well. So glad I was in town this weekend. I almost didn't go because hubby had to work, but so glad I did! I just love new little nephews! (:

How exciting! Why wouldn't they let you in the room after the epidural? Is that standard practice? I've never seen that policy here.

Your nephew is adorable! I love babies!! Congratulations, Auntie!!

PS you and your sister look sooo alike!
