Super day for cardio

Friday, October 14, 2011

I began my day with a mile or so walk around school - much of it while carrying a ream of paper, since I picked up my photocopying from the office as I was on my way.

Then I spent 2 hours wedging clay - imagine 2 hours of kneading very heavy and very stiff bread dough, to the point you are sweating despite being in air conditioning - you get the picture of the degree of cardio (and upper body work). Probably burns close to what I'd burn paddling a kayak, but I'm just guessing.

After school, I went to the ballroom dancing for teachers - there were only two of us plus the instructor, so I spent the whole time dancing the merengue with my favorite dance partner from school, the nice music teacher. We learned all kinds of fancy moves to do between the tush shaking normal dance move, so we did a lot of practicing and danced pretty close to nonstop for an hour - it was fun!

SP says I burned about 900 calories today - woohooooo!!!!!!!!

Nice day! I cant stand the feel of clay in my hands. I used to have to wear gloves when I used it with my pre schoolers.

Yup, I love the dancing! I do tend toward functional cardio - just wait until we start tiling the wall!
