I have always been someone who gets sick a lot, mainly mild things - usually sinus based.
However no matter how big I have gotten I have always thought I was pretty healthy for my size - I could keep up or at least try really hard to with most things. compared to the health issues that medical professionals continuously mention (as they should) such as Diabetes, Heart Disease, Stroke, High Blood Pressure - the list goes on and on.
The truth is, I never REALLY paid attention. It has always been about appearance and how others perceived me.
I had to go back to the doctors for the FOURTH time in the last month... FOURTH!!
I NEVER go to the doctors that frequently, but this sinus infection has really gotten a hold of me.
It started off as another one of my sinus infections - which got worse so I went to the doctors, got antibiotics and steroids, a 2 weeks passed - no improvement - second trip to the doctors and second course of antibiotics, another week - still feeling rubbish and now have severe earache and lethargy - so trip 3 and nasal drops and spray - another week and STIll no improvement and now have vertigo from small heights, feeling as though I am underwater, lethargic to the point of just sleeping all the time and a cough - on top of everything else.
So today I went back for a FOURTH time - turns out I only had a sinus infection for one week - antibiotics and steroids did shift it but then I got a viral inner ear infection that has built up as I was treating it with antibiotics that wouldn't touch the infection but trashed my immune system instead - so I am now being treated for Labyrithitis (inner ear infection) and have been told to eat really healthy - particularly freggies and water. and to exercise gently - walking mostly.
I was told that my weight is a contributor to my current health and instrumental in my sinus problems and their reoccurrence.
So I have made a decision - it doesn't matter how much I weigh - as long as the scale goes DOWN - for now it's not a priority to know the EXACT number - so I am going to focus on getting healthy.
I realise that I suffer an awful lot due to my weight - physically and emotionally.
At 24 - I have joint pain, bad immune system, IBS and horrible self esteem issues.
not exactly what I imagined my life to be.
I dilly and dally a lot when losing weight - I do really well and then just lose interest.
However, my health is far too important to NOT do anything.
So my journey is now less about appearances and now focused on getting healthy - improving my immune system, getting fitter and stronger and taking the stress off my body so it can function as it should.
any tips on improving immune system let me know - particularly to boost energy levels and promote sleep.
I have taken my weight tracker of my page to re-inforce that I must focus on getting healthy - I refuse to be sick all the time and have a reduced quality of life because of food - it's not worth it.
