Up at dad's place...rambling...

Friday, October 14, 2011

--Well, I am up at my pa's house for a couple of weeks. I do some work around the house, take him to see his doctors and generally contemplate life. This is the house I grew up in and it makes me sad. All of my friends have moved away....the woods we used to play in have been cut down and now there is just empty stores and concrete parking lots. Ick, ick, ick!

--But on a happier note, I didn't do too badly on the ten-hour drive. Yep, I stay awake while driving by munching (and listening to books on CD). I brought some Kashi cinnamon wheat cereal and some cheese to eat. It's a long drive and as my luck goes, it rained the whole way! Won-der-ful!

--Peanut and my dad helped me on the drive by snoozing the whole way. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the kitties keep hubby in line at home. They will report to me if there are any unapproved guests while I'm away!

--Not sure how my diet will fare up here, but I will try my best. But I HAVE to get a hot corned beef sandwich from Goodman's...but I will only eat half at a time sans chips. emoticon

+++++++++++ Have a great day, everyone! +++++++++++++++++++

    I did not realize you were going to be away for two weeks. When will you be returning? You did great to stay alert for a 10 hour drive. I take munchies with me when I'm driving a distance, too. My roady-food are slim jims and pig skins!! Take with you soon.

    I have to make a similar trip to my parents to help out in about 3 weeks. It takes me 9 1/2 hours to drive down and there is the work and helping where I can. So I relate to you and all we can do when traveling and being away from home is to do our best. Enjoy the time with your dad.

    Wow! Sounds like a wonderful weekend. When we go back to Kansas, we go by my old house and school. Fun to relive our past sometimes. Enjoy your time with Dad and Peanut and have a safe trip home!

    Glad you made it there in 1 piece and with no incidents. Going back can be such a hard thing. It's never the same. When my folks sold the old homestead 9 yrs ago, I swore never to go back. I still haven't. Even if for some rare reason we have to drive by it, I look the other way. Just can't bring myself to look. Hope you have some good daughter/dad time and drive back safely.
