So I've decided...

I was thinking about my journey this morning. I've realized as much as I've been stressing about "losing weight"...I've forgotten the real reason why I'm here.

I want to be healthy. I NEED to be healthy. If I can strive to be healthy then the weight loss will follow.

I want to run. The more I do it, the more I love it! I want to run outside and feel the wind on my face. On my non gym days I am going to jog outside. Even if it's just at a slow pace.

Yesterday I did week 6 day 1 and finished. I'm a little nervous about next week. But I will do my best, even if I have to repeat it.

    That's great Michelle! I think we all get caught up in the numbers and forget why we're doing this sometimes. If you want to run, RUN girlfriend! As fast or as slow as you can, just go! I know you can do it!

    It's funny. When you quit thinking of dieting and just do it, it seems to be much easier. Does that make sense. Sometimes I think my thoughts are like babbling!! emoticon I started running by going for what I call my "music" runs. I just run to the pace of whatever song is on. Before I knew it I was running longer and longer distances. I am not fast. But I enjoy just being outside. It just does soooo much for your mental well being!

    You can do it! Each time I went out for couch to 5k, I got nervous! I think that's normal, and even if you have to go slow that is fine! I think too many people try to start out running like olympians and then wonder what the heck they were thinking. LOL I am not fast, but I have stamina, and that's the important thing. I LOVE running outside when it's cool out. It feels so good!

    It's a wonderful shift when we start focusing on being able to DO things, not just losing other things. Congrats, and I hope the running goes fantastically, I know I love it now, too! :D

    Awesome blog girl! I think thats why so many of us lose focus and fall off the wagon. I remember when i used to run, i dropped weight like crazy, best feeling in the world. I wanted to start running this week, but the rain followed....for today and tomorrow. I NEED to get out there and run!
WTG for re focusing on your weight loss journey, just taking those steps make u healthy each and everyday and like u said, the numbers will follow.

    I think this mindset makes all the difference. It's about being kind to yourself and achieving better health, both physically and mentally. Excess weight is a symptom and like you said, if you strive to be healthy the weight will follow.

Running is amazing. I'm only on week 5 of couch to 5k but I'm making progress and just starting to realize what my body is truly capable of. Feeling able is the best feeling in the world - better than any number on the scale.

    Good insight! I think stressing over weight loss in the end is so counter-productive to LOSING weight. I've learned that along the way. I just want to live and be as healthy as possible and hopefully because of these things, weight loss will follow.

    You are so right about focusing on the health aspect and not just the weight loss. It's funny, but since I'm planning on running a 5k, I find that I make better choices. Not because I'll gain weight if I make poor food decisions, but because it will be harder to run if I gain weight. Does that make sense? When I have an off day, I don't let it send me into a fried food frenzy because that won't help me run.

I know it sounds like a cliche, but having a non-weight loss goal (and a measurable one--either you run 5k or you don't--lol), has really made a tremendous difference for me. I hope it will for you too.

    Your so right. Its easy to get caught up in the numbers of the weight loss to forget that wasn't your main goal and its health. Just think about how much healthier u r now compared to even a couple months ago. Even ifthe numbers on the scale slow down....ur health will keep improving.
