Decisions Ė Kinect Group & More

Wednesday, October 12, 2011

Iím looking at my SparkPeople life and thinking that I need to improve a few things. I would like to join more groups so that my blogs and updates have more exposure. More exposure is always a good thing. That means Iíll get more support and meet more people. However, I donít think it would be fair to the groups if I join and donít participate. My goal is to lead my current groups and keep everyone motivated. That is tough to maintain and still participate in other groups and challenges. What do you all think? Should I join more groups for more exposure, even if I donít participate?

Speaking of leading groups, Iím very active in leading my Xbox Kinect group. Right now, Iím not even on the map in my other two groups. For that I feel sorry. Another question for you all, should I resign leadership of my other two groups? I would like to be able to get on board and motivate folks, but I havenít been doing this for months.

While we are on the topic of Xbox Kinect, there are lots of new games coming out for it. What is the Kinect? Think about the Wii, but without any controllers. You step in front of your TV and play. Donít worry about pressing buttons, because the machine sees you and corresponds to your movements. Swing the bat, bowl the ball, dance the tango, and do whatever you want. If there is an interest, there is a game for it. This week there were several games released for the Kinect. I have had the privilege to review a few of them and hope to be reviewing a few more. Of the ones I reviewed, they are:

Kinectimals Now with Bears!

Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster

)

Forza Motorsport 4
(Review here: kinectreviewsandintervie

)

So, Iím having fun and meeting lots of great people. I just have to fine tune what my priorities are and have that happy medium of participation, leadership, and personal drive.

Until next time, keep Sparking everyone!

    Ryan,
You do a great job leading the Kinect group! But don't spread yourself too thin. Think about what's best for you! I'm a part of several groups and participate here and there. I don't have a whole lot of free time, so I'll dedicate a half hour once a week to each group, usually. And subscribe to each RSS feed so I can read what everyone's up to from my phone.

Have a great weekend!

    I am not active on most of my groups and just joined the Kinect group but haven't been there much other than lurking and checking out the game reviews. I think if more exposure for your blogs is what you want then join extra groups (I am in one group with over a thousand members but it seems that I only see the same 10-20 names popping up on the posts). If being the leader of 2 or more groups is getting to be too much then by all means bow out gracefully and ask if anyone would be interested in taking your place.

Now I'm off to read your game reviews because even though no one in my house is currently young enough to watch Sesame Street I think the Once Upon a Monster game looks kind of fun.

    I have to be honest and I haven't been participating much on Spark lately. Sometimes life throws you a curve ball so you need to learn to catch so you can continue playing. Concentrate on you and keep us updated! You are an inspiration to us even if you are not as active as you wish!

    I agree with Alyssa, i wish they'd add kinect games to the fitness :/

I am in a bunch of teams the site recommended, but pretty much only go in the kinect group. I do try and pop in to some of the others once in a while. :/

I did a shameless plug for the kinect team in one of my blogs, i dont mind doing it again!!

    I have trouble interacting with my groups. I am a homeschool housewife- my freedom time is far and between but I'd like to join groups too. I like your blog and it's cool how you announce the games.

Speaking of games, why won't Sparkpeople add Kinect options to the fitness boards? There are Wii games galore but no Kinect and I think that stinks! LOL

I loved your blog and I think I'm going to shed some light on my own areas that need some attention. Good luck to you and I'm cheering you on.

Cheers!

    many people join teams and don't participate in. i don't see anything wrong with joining more.

i know i go back and forth on joining teams. you got to do what is going to help you reach your goals.
