Duathalon...Should I go for it?

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

I did my first Duathalon this morning. Well, kind of. I really want to sign up for the event this Sunday in Crystal Lake : Run and Role for the Dole
, but I've hesitated because of my recent stress fracture of my shin. I have to say it is feeling much better and the doctor did give me the go ahead to start running again. But I've been taking it really slow as I've been so worried about another injury. Anyways, this event includes a total of 4 miles of running and I've only gotten myself back up to 2 miles. I have been doing a ton of biking though... So this morning I decided to test myself to see if I could complete the 2mile run/ 20k ride/ 2mile run combination. I'm happy to report that I was able to complete it! Not happy with my time though :( Not sure why I even gave myself a time goal being that I just wanted to see if I could do the combo. But it is what it is and NOW I have to decide if I should sign up for the duathalon. Watching the weather and keeping an eye on my shin for the next couple of days. :) emoticon

Go for it girl! Just listen to your body and if its whispering, take the second run portion very easy, nothing lost, great experience gained! :) Hope you are well miss you!

My sister is doing this race. She wanted me to do the bike portion but I won't be able to go. I might train to do this race next year. I'm just not one that enjoys running at all. But I'm always up for a challenge. The weather is supposed to be perfect...well at least for outdoor exercise. Good luck! And remember to have fun.
