The rejection e-mail

Thursday, October 06, 2011

Ok, so I hope some of you have gotten these (if not, then I guess I need to re-address my resume). I really just had to share because I thought this was quite funny; my husband agreed. Anyway, a while ago I applied for several jobs, and am quite used to getting the "form letter rejection" e-mail. You know, 'thanks for applying, we chose someone with a closer fit; please feel free to check the website for updated opportunities; yadda yadda yadda'. Ok, well, I applied for a job a few months ago (I totally forgot I even applied for it), and today I received the rejection form letter e-mail...only they didn't even take the time to change the name...so I received this form letter rejection addressed to Annette (my name is Jennifer). I just had to laugh about it...I mean, I know it's a form letter that they send out to everyone, but come on, at least when you are rejecting someone have the common courtesy to put the right name at the top, ya know.

(oh, and luckily, I have a job now that I do enjoy, so sorry for Annette, who may never know she was turned down for the job - haha).

I just saw this blog and I have to say "What is wrong with People??"

Here is one better. My husband went on a second interview for some job where they were asking him all these questions on cost cutting ideas for their company.

The rejection letter came in the mail the next day. It was dated 3 days before he had the second interview. He was pretty frosted about it.

I told him the only way to make it right in your mind is send them an invoice for your consulting services.

And I am sure the employers are sitting there saying the candidates are strange!

Thanks for a good laugh!

Well, Annette AKA Jennifer (or is that backwards? Maybe this company can be rebooted?) I guess you missed a real opportunity. Wonder what name they use for paychecks?

Jennifer!!! Yes, that is YOU (!) I am so glad you shared this!!! Too many of us have heard NOTHING over months and months. Too funny!

Well at least we know a job position that might open up in the future because it is not being done very well. Small things make such big differences. Glad you have a sense of humor - got to exercise the diaphram muscle!

Sheesh! Better to work for a company that cares enough about their potential employees that they get the name right! Good grief!

So, Annette, how was the rest of your day?

And I can tell you that I have received similar emails. Luckily, I really didn't give a .... as I remind myself that I'm still retired.

That is hilarious. My husband is going through the rejection letters and I (who takes most things personally) realize that they are all a bunch of crap unless it's an acceptance letter. At least yours was funny!
