Not QUITE giving up on Jamie Eason's LiveFit challenge...

Tuesday, October 04, 2011

As some of you may know, my right shoulder has been giving me trouble from the beginning of this programme and I even had to substitute/amend certain moves in order not to strain it.

Unfortunately, it has now started hurting with *every* single move that engages my shoulder joint.
Yesterday, it was even hurting and twingeing whilst at rest (bit better today, but still a few twinges) and last night, I couldn't lay on my right side to go to sleep as I *had* to use my right arm during my dance classes and the pain seriously flared up.

So I've made the decision to skip the upper body workouts on the Jamie Eason's LiveFit challenge for a week. I'll still do the legs and abs workouts though.
I've also started an intensive treatment with arnica and I am hoping that in one week, my shoulder joint will be rested enough for me to resume my upper body strength training. If not, then I'll rest my shoulder some more.

I have my Ballroom medal test at the end of this month and I do not want my posture and concentration to be compromised by constant pain.

I'm a bit disappointed to have to take this decision but it would be plain daft to take the risk of doing serious damage to my shoulder for the sake of a strength training challenge, regardless of how much I enjoy it.

Hope you all have a fab day!! emoticon

emoticon Sorry to hear about your shoulder. I'm glad you're taking the time off and taking care of it. No exercise plan is worth getting injured over! Hope you feel better soon :)..p.s. glad you're back blogging.

You are making the right decision.....rest it and just do legs and abs for now. Hope you feel better soon!

Sounds like the right decision - listening to our bodies is one of the hardest things for us to learn. Hang in there, and take it one day at a time!

I've been having trouble with my shoulders too. Mostly my left. I think I tore something before I even started the LiveFit Challenge. I've been modifying some of the moves too and using the Smith Machine as much as possible so I don't have to lift heavy weights over my head to my shoulders. Being injured just sucks! But rest up so you can emjoy your Ballroom test (so fun!) and when you feel better you can do the program as it was meant to be done. That's my plan anyway. Take care and have a wonderful day! emoticon

I hope your shoulder heals very soon! And definitely do not risk hurting yourself any more!
Good luck with your Ballroom medal test as well! :)
