Flashback to the 70s - Minkee quilt

Back in June one of my Spark teams had a get together in Shipshewana, Indiana. That little town is in the heart of Amish country and the food, handcrafts ... OMG! They also have a fantastic fabric store called Lolly's. I bought a quilt kit made of Minky/Minkee (I see it spelled both ways) at one of the little shops in Lolly's. The fabric is very soft, luxurious and warm. I've been told it was named after the animal but I don't know that for a fact.

I call the quilt "Flashback to the 70s" ... a strip quilt made of lime green, paisley, polka-dots - what else could it be?

I finished it a few days ago; here are a couple pics

    It turned out awesome!! And Weezie is right...Lolly's has a PJ day and some of it is 50% off if you show up in PJ and they open at something like 7a.m.!!! I say we should all go!!! I've heard that they line up at 5a.m. It would be awesome fun. But I do love the way the quilt turned out. I still have not done the one that I bought!! Enjoy cuddling under that beautiful quilt!

    Turned out great my friend. I want one for ME next. LOL Next trip to Shipsee. Oh, I hear in February, I think, they have a PJ day. YOu show up and you get 30% or something like that off at Lolly's. Wonder if it would work for the minky's too? I may have to think about a drive down. Thanks for sharing!!

    So that is what a Minkee quilt is! Beautiful.

But I'm still not sure - is it a minkee quilt because of the soft material or because of the design? (I thinking the soft material.)
