Dallas Running Club - The Loop 15K - review

Dallas Running Club
The Loop 15K
Dallas White Rock Lake

So I ran my only (hard to believe) my second 15K race this weekend. This blog will be fairly short and to the point, just enough to detail the event,,
I actually slept really well the night before, I couldn't believe that! My family was supposed to go with me, but Sydney was having horrible allergies and we decided that Chelle and the girls would stay home!

I arrived about an hour early and got my race bib and timing chip then started getting my legs going with an active warm up and stretch and trip to the porta pot and I was ready!

I met a friend John there so that was cool to see him again! We started way at the back, that's a great way to make ya feel good. You can pass lots of people that way...hahahaha. I ran with John the first mile or so, then took off. I saw another friend and co-worker of my wife on the run as well.

I made great time during the run and felt great about ever step.

Miles 1-3 were 8:38, 8:14 and 8:27 respectively and still feeling pretty strong!
Miles 4-6 were 8:24, 8:33 and 8:29 and I couldn't believe I was STILL holding 8's...WOW...Me, JEROME was running that fast?!?!?! GET OUT!!
Miles 7-9 were 8:34, 8:41 and 8:25 AMAZED!! WOW was I amazed. Relaxed and kicking it pretty well. My right knee did start to hurt a little toward the end, but nothing horrible!
My last .5 was 7:47.
My Garmin time was 1:20:30 and my official time was 1:20:57. Amazed even ME!! I placed 19th out of 44 in my age group.

My previous 15K, which was in July was 1:30:52 so I beat it by 10 minutes!! WHEW

It was a beautiful day and I enjoyed that run very much, THAT is why I run! I hit the runners high like never before!

There ya have it.....DRC 15K 2011 is in the books!

Great speed! I did the 15k as well but I'm not as fast. I average a 13 min mile (run/walk). I think my time (according to my watch and not the gun time) was 2:06. :)

Awesome race, Jerome! A 10-minute improvement - WOW! I can't wait to run my first 5K later this month. Who knows, a 15K may be in my sight - someday! Thanks for being our fearless leader. You have taught me much about discipline and perseverance.

Well done, my friend. I'd say I'd sign up for a run out there with you, but you'd leave me in the dust by mile 2!

Congrats on a great 15k!
