I have to share the best weight loss advise I ever read here on spark people. I am thinking it was Jenn who said it but not sure so forgive me if I am wrong and you were the one who told me...please correct me.
The best advise ever is to not do anything to lose weight that you are not willing to do for the rest of your life.
In the beginning when I started this plan I wasnt losing very fast...1/10 of a pound here 2/10 of a pound there. Some would tell me because I am not exercising daily or eating diet foods. But I had decided that I wanted this to be a life long plan. Not something I go off and gain all the weight back. Others around me were losing like crazy but also eating and exercising like crazy. Which sets one up for quick burn out. I am in this for the long haul.
Because of this awesome advise I have been able to not feel guilty about only exercising a few times a week...nor do I feel guilty when I budget into my calorie count a hamburger that I am craving. Getting rid of the guilt has allowed me not to binge through my guilt making me feel worse of course.
The weight is coming off. I am still surprised and it is scary to me because I was at the same weight for 20 years before starting to spark.
Now I am down 34 pounds as of this morning ( Sunday Funday is my weigh day)
Thanks to all the wonderful inspirational stories and posts out there I am actually thinking for the first time in my life that I can actually lose weight.
It makes me shaky and nervous to be stepping out of the box little by little, from being obese into the over weight category...but I am not going to stop just yet.
Bottom line...small changes over time is the best....that is why my motto is Keep on Swimming.
BTW I have joined a softball league and am heading out for my first game...to think I am actually going to play ball like I did in high school :)
