Title: Thankyou Thankyou SparkPeople!

Message: I have so much gratitude in my heart for SparkPeople that I pray
daily now for the creator/team leaders, and all like me who are succeeding
at last with learning how to be HEALTHY. My doctor recommended Sparks to me
and is thrilled with my progress so far. I am hypo-thyroid too, and with the
help of the food calculator and menu and recipe ideas, I look forward to
healthy daily eating rather than dieting...which always fails in the end for
me. I have also been motivated to exercise, by all the advice and articles
and videos etc for that, here at Sparks. Now I absolutely love to exercise
and be active every day. I also drink my water and the ''water goal'' and
''other goals'' each day help me to have pride in myself for other reasons
than just weight loss. I have lost 10% of my weight already, and am so
grateful! My blood pressure medication was reduced form 10 mg a day to 5 mgs
a day and is now at the lowest dose possible of 2.5 mgs a day. My aim is to
get off it altogether. My cholesterol numbers are down too, but I still have
to stay on that med. for the time being. I don''t even crave fat or desserts
anymore, and eat plenty of fruit and veggies and use oils. I am also eating
more fish -thanks to the menu suggestions I believe. The motivational and
information articles are ''the best of the best'' anywhere online. I get
support from my teams and friends here at Sparks. I made a Sparks''
scrapbook and also keep a written daily journal, and have pictures and
mottos all over my computer area to motivate me even more. I will be away
(from the computer) from mid-May to end of July this year, but with my
printed - off info and advice, and my journal, scrapbook and calorie
counter (as a reminder), plus the good new habits for eating and portion
control, and my new exercise and walking habits, I know I will continue to
lose weight while on vacation. I have prointed off some cards that advertise
SparkPeople and plan to place them all across Canada while we travel.

I think only about 1 in every 10 or 15 doctors has any integrity or is at all helpful, but I think it's worth the while to find a competent one you can trust. Like SparkPeople, a good one can be an extremely useful tool to help you gain and keep your health. I lost my health insurance when I became self-employed. It's been very scary since I'm solely responsible for my son also. I got him some terrible insurance through his school, which was the best I could do for awhile. I just reached the point where I felt I was able to get a modest plan again, and located a decent one through NASRO, which stands for National Association of Socially Responsible Organizations. They had a broker call me and she helped me identify the best plan for me. It was truly the first time in my life I felt I wasn't being sold snake oil by a broker. Sure, I could lose a few pounds now and be healthier, but at my age (50), and with a young son, I want to think long-range, and I think that means preventive health care. In the meantime, I want to add that I think the health care system in our country is reprehensible. I also think it's just a matter of time before it blows. Unfortunately, I think that means a lot of little people will be hurt in the process, but maybe it means we will thereafter end up with a better system.
