Turnaround - FINALLY!!

Thursday, September 29, 2011

Since November the 6th it has been a long hard climb. I got Shingles then and from the first it wasn't the rash it was the pain. My Granddaughter caught H1N1 this spring and was in an induced coma to try and save her unborn child but she lost it. Even now she is having a hard time and is fighting her own demons. Although I have kept logging and Tracking in late Spring I got Plantar Fasitis and have had to stop walking. I have felt at times like I was hanging on by my fingernails. In fact I feel like I have been in a fight.

About 10 days ago I started feeling like "pushing" on my workouts. I believe I have turned a corner and there is only one reason I have hung on so long. SPARKPEOPLE!!! I think there are under a half dozen times that I failed to log in and Track my exercise and food. I am still on the pain meds, which I hate because of the side effects, but am successfully cutting those down. I am beginning to think positively again and hope to add back walking to my weekly schedule Monday.

Thank You SP and all the Friends who have cheered me on the way.

It sounds like you've had a really hard time, and I'm so sorry about your physical problems and your granddaughter's losing her baby. Sometimes it seems like life chews us up and spits us out, that's for sure. I've heard that shingles are very painful.

I know it's so hard to see our kids and grandkids hurting. All we can do sometimes is to love them and offer a shoulder to cry on. Our daughter's step-son had a terrible car wreck with three other kids in the car, and one of the girls was killed. Now he's facing negligent homicide charges. He just got his driver's license and his first job. He's only a couple of months since he turned 16, and he's not a bad kid. He's getting a lesson in what happens when he doesn't follow the law.

Take care, and I'm glad you're feeling better.

I commend your strength and determination. Your
weigh loss success was truly tested by what you have
been through. And you have successfully shown that
you are committed to the goal of maintaining your
    loss even in rough times.

What you have gained through this experience is the
confidence that comes from sticking to your
commitment. That is an emoticon gift
to give yourself, and and inspiration to all of
    us as well.

I hope you continue to improve and are off the meds
and on to full recovery soon
