Morning run cut short. . .

Wednesday, September 28, 2011

by some creep-tacular guy in a four door blue car. He drove by me, no biggie, cars go by all the time. The creepy part was that he stopped farther down the road. When I saw him, he was leaning against the front quarter panel of his car, smoking, with his the door open, and the car running. My intuition flickered and my mind started thinking about self-defense. I've run this road twice a week since the end of March. My family and I walk this road 3-5 times per week. This is a "safe" road. Normally people on the road don't bug me and I get "enjoying the view," but this guy was off. After I was past him, I decided not to run back, but to go to the store at the end of the road and call my hubby to pick me up. The store workers were very understanding!! Thankful that things turned out the way they did.

I'm not a person who is easily scared!! I laugh during horror movies, have visited prisons in a third world country, and have walked many dark roads alone. This was different. Contemplating carrying pepper spray from now on. Seems kinda silly, but might make sense.

I feel like someone must have been praying. Thank you!!

I'm always praying for your safety! SO GLAD you were okay and that creepy mcfreakyson left you alone. Definitely carry something with you from now on if even only an abundance of prayers! I agree with LadyK, if you see the creep again make a mental note of how he looks, car description, make/model/color, license plate number if you can remember that much, the police need to know he's intimidating women at the very least, if not doing something worse..and I pray he isn't, I hope he just thought it was "funny" and will never see you again!!

Always follow your intuition! We have it for a reason! I am never without at least a cell phone when I go walking by myself--even during the day. I would say pepper spray and your phone would be a wise decision.

That's freaky! I agree with RUNNER4LIFE08, maybe invest in a whistle or something. Good choice on calling your hubby!

You handled that so very wisely. We love you and your family needs you. Thanks for using your head. If you see that person lurking again, you need to call the local police and let them know how it feels to you and give them a description; maybe ask them to bump up patrols on that road if possible. You also might want to take a cell phone on your runs with 911 in the speed dial.

No one who knows you believes you're easily scared. You are strong and capable, but you are right to listen to your gut.

Love, hugs & prayers,

That probably would have freaked me out as well. Sounds like you made the right choice.

Pepper spray or cell phone would work. Maybe even a whistle around your neck!
