September Update

Tuesday, September 27, 2011

This has been a very crazy busy month so far at work and I haven't had time to blog.

In addition I am sick! Boo! I have been sick for the last week and it's still here. Thing about this cold is that it's coming in waves. So I felt awful on Wednesday - head just hurt. Thursday felt better. Friday I felt worse than Wednesday!
Saturday I felt better and even did my 10km race! Sunday felt a little under the weather and tired. Monday, yesterday I felt fantastic! Didn't have to take any cold medicine at all.

Than last night after work my throat began to burn. Today my throat kills and my nose will not stop running! ugh!

Anyways, last week I finally got my ball pumped up and I was able to try the last two new workouts from my ChaLEAN Extreme deluxe.

The first one I did was the Extreme Intervals workout. I have to say I was a little skeptical about using a ball to do an Interval work...boy was I ever in for a shock. I sweated and felt worked. I wouldn't say this was better than the other interval workouts but I did get in a great workout. I compare the interval workouts to the Burn Intervals. It's still my favorite of the ChaLEAN Extreme interval workouts... Get Lean Intervals was my second...now I may have to have the Extreme Intervals as my second favorite! hahaha

Love them.

So I had my zoo race on the weekend. I am going to do another blog on this as soon as I get the photos from my sister.

I ended up running it with my younger brother. He has been doing a lot of the cross fit workouts. We pushed each other hard through the race and were so thrilled when we passed the finish line in 50 mins! Last year I did the race in 58 minutes! holy cow!

So far I have jumped up my times a lot with my 10km races:

10km Race 2009: Completed in 65 minutes (weighed 45 pounds heavier than today)

10km Zoo Race 2010: Completed in 58 minutes (weigh 10 pounds heavier than today)

10km Zoo Race 2011: Completed in 50 minutes

That made me feel so good. My leg muscles were so sore! hahaha

Baby front:

The husband and I are trying for a baby. First month of trying we did not conceive. I realize I am not going to be patient about this. hahaha....I decided to purchase a kit that came with 15 ovulation tests and 5 pregnancy tests.

The reason I did this is because some friends said they weren't ovulating when a 'normal' girl would in her cycle. So I want to figure out when I do.

Secondly, I got a little paranoid that my intense workouts may be interfering. I strongly believe since I still regularly get my cycle every 28 days Ia m okay. However, I read that sometimes although you still get your cycle the intense exercise interferes with the actual ovulation. So...not really sure how much I credit I should actually give what I am reading since it is all on the Internet....but I know myself. I know I will stress regardless because the idea has been put there.

So I took control and rather stress lets find out. I am hoping it doesn't take to much longer but I am also realistic that it's not going to happen right away, first try. hahaa

Because we are trying for the baby I haven't made myself a new 20 week workout calender. I am just going with it right now. Using the hybrid calender as a basis but letting myself wake-up and say - hmm I feel like doing this today.

I am making sure I get in a combination of strength, cardio, and yoga.

As soon as I have the race pictures I will post them.

I was sick last week and mine was in waves like yours and I'm still not 100% convinced that I am over it. I noticed in your blog you said "20 week schedule." Is that generally how far you plan your workouts for? That is actually a very good idea!

Good luck baby making!

Great run time Saturday! Hopefully we can run either the 5K or 10K together next year, depending on how much time we have to train :)

You know I'm here if you need anything, anything at all! Feel better soon.

Good luck with the baby making!

My advice: the ovulation kits are a great idea, then you know when you ovulate. I got pregnant the first month we really tried (sort of tried the month before), I actually ovulated 4 days past when I would have thought. We BD (baby danced :) every day that week then about 12 days later I got a positive test result. My symptoms were that my back hurt and I had cramps like I was getting my period. I am now 14 weeks preggo. I had toned down my exercise while trying, I thought it would help.

One more piece of advice: don't take Advil if you think you are preggo, I forgot about that rule and was popping them when I started cramping because I thought I just had regular cramps, then I freaked out when I read it can cause miscarriages. Luckily I was fine but just wanted to give this advice.

Good luck! Remember that for even perfectly healthy couples it takes an average of 6 months to conceive.

I too tried to ovulation sticks and found out I ovulate on day 16 or 17 instead of day 14. Worked for me. Hope it works for you this month!!!

Wow great job on the 10km! Also hope you don't have to wait too long to get pregnant, but don't stress yourself over it, relax, it'll happen when it's meant to. emoticon

We just started trying too and of course I didn't think we'd really conceive in the first month...but I was hoping! Yeah, not so much! I also got ovulation kits and pregnancy tests and I think I'm making myself a little crazy and just need to relax and let it happen! It's tough not being in control, though! I hope everything works out wonderfully for you and your hubby!
