I was looking for quotes to hang around the house to motivate me, maybe to share with others here. Something to get me reved up. And I found this quote and really liked it.

Patience - we all want instant gratification and how many times, and how much money have we spent in trying to get that gratification? "If you buy our weight loss pills you'll lose 20 pounds in a week!" "If you use our gadget 3 times a week for 5 minutes you will lose 10 inches in your waist in a month". Impatience is my greatest weakness. This 85 pounds just didn't jump on this body, and it's going to take even longer to fall off. Patience is a virtue and I need to always keep this in my mind.

Persistence - how guilty am I of trying something and saying to myself "oh this just doesn't work" and not really give it a fair shot? Or how often do I start a diet, an exercise plan, to just give it up 3 days later? Did I give it a chance? Not even close! I need to be as persistent with my weight loss and exercise as I am with my job. Monday through Friday I go to work. Sunday through Saturday I need to eat healthy and exercise and be just as tenacious with my health as I am with my paycheck.

Perspiration - I hate to sweat! Makes me all blotchy and cranky and stinky. You can lose weight and not have to perspire. But without that perspiration the skin will sag, the tush will droop (or get droopier), the results will take even longer. I need to learn to love to feel that trickle of sweat going down the back of my neck. I need to embrace exercising and the rewards that come with perspiring.

So my SparkFriends I'm asking you to hold me accountable and help me with the 3 P's. Do you have a P you need to work on? If so, let me know and we'll work on it together!

    Love this blog, and so true on each P. Never really thought about it like that. I'm usually not big on sweating either, but I now love it. I know that when I am profusely sweating (like when you are on the elliptical machine and it is dripping off your eyebrows - burning your eyes), I am working it. I'm leaving nothing behind. I'm laying it all out there in my quest to lose those stubborn pounds. When I jump off the elliptical to do my strength training, drops puddle on the floor around me. My heart rate's up, I'm working my muscles, I'm in the zone. Without my blood, my sweat and my tears, I am just a dried up prune!!!! lol

Here's to the three Ps ---- especially sweat aka "perspiration".
Embrace your smelliness!!!! lol

    Funny you should post this - I pick one word every year to focus my goals on (this year 2011 is "balance") and I've been thinking about Patience for a couple weeks now...it might be what I focus on in 2012. Your quote and comment came at the right time to spark me!

    Great blog Debi!!! Of these things patience is definitely my biggest problem! Overall, I'd have to say though that planning and priorities are my largest 'p' issues. Someday I will have it all together emoticon

    Thanks for this post! I think I will write all 3 words on a post-it note and put it where I can see it throughout the day. I might add "Perpetuity" to my list as well ... I have to remember that this commitment is one that I will live with now and will have to incorporate into my life in perpetuity ... and doing that will require me to continue to have patience with myself.

    Good quote to start the day. I need all three P's sometimes, but I guess Patience would be the one I need most. I am very patient with others, but not so much with myself and my weight loss.

    Great blog post, Deb - I need to work on all three - but probably patience most of all. Patience with myself! I'd add another P, too - persevering!

If you swim for exercise, you don't notice the sweat ;)

    Great blog! Persistance is the big one for me. I'm way to easy going and not just about weight loss or exercise, about everything. Someone needs to light a fire you know where!!! LOL

    I so love this blog, as I fall short on all three sometime. It seems whne I get one going the other is not happening for me. My biggest P problem tho, is persistence, Just seem like this healthy thing gets a little to much sometime. I want to stop but I know I shouldn't.I'm trying to be persistent. Thanks for sharing this blog.
